Taco Seasoning

Don’t let the length of this ingredient list intimidate you! You can have all these spice jars out on the counter in a snap! …and with a quick scoop here and a quick scoop there, it’s done! Your family will thank you that they are getting that classic south-of-the-border flavor they love, and you’ll sleep better knowing you served up an additive free feast.

Though this spice mix is best known sprinkled into ground beef for taco night, it has many other uses as well. Mix it into beans for a seven layer dip, add it to shredded or diced chicken for tacos or burritos, or stir it into sour cream for a zesty dip or taco salad dressing. Stored in a spice jar, this seasoning will keep for months.

The following recipe will season 1 lb. ground beef. (Taco filling recipe included below) Adjust to your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cumin, ground
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano, dried
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/8- 1/4 tsp Chipotle Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper, ground

Instructions

  • 1. Add all ingredients to a small bowl.
  • 2. Stir until thoroughly combined.
  • 3. Store in a spice jar, or
  • 4. Add 1 lb. ground beef to large skillet over med heat. Cook until browned, breaking up until only small clumps remain.
  • 5. Sprinkle the entire spice mixture (or desired amount) into the beef and mix until well coated.
  • 6. Cook for a few minutes, stirring until beef is transformed into a taco-worthy filling. Enjoy!
  • 7. Can be cooled, portioned, and frozen. This is a great go-to freezer meal option! -just defrost and sprinkle over chips with cheese, voila!
